Wax-filled glass diyas offer a convenient and mess-free alternative to traditional oil diyas. Follow these steps for safe use and longevity:
1. Placing the Diya
Set the diya on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
Keep away from flammable materials, direct wind, or air vents to prevent uneven burning.
2. Lighting the Diya
Trim the wick to ¼ inch before lighting for a clean, even flame.
Use a long matchstick or lighter to safely ignite the wick.
3. Ensuring an Even Burn
Allow the wax to melt evenly across the top during the first burn to prevent tunneling.
Avoid moving the diya while the wax is still in liquid form.
4. Safety Precautions
Never leave a burning diya unattended.
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Do not burn the diya completely to the bottom—leave at least ½ inch of wax to prevent the glass from overheating or cracking.
5. Extinguishing the Diya
Use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame.
Avoid using water to extinguish, as it may cause wax to splatter.
6. Cleaning & Reuse
Once cooled, remove leftover wax by placing the diya in warm water to loosen it.
Wipe the glass clean with a soft cloth.
Refill with new wax and a wick or use it as a decorative tealight holder.
